I spent nearly three years, on and off, following and documenting the making of Michael Thomsen’s film, Tethered to the Ether. My intention was to understand the artist behind the work and capture moments. That meant spending countless hours immersed in his world—journeys through his elaborate backyard garden, road trips north to a famous Minnesota junkyard, the miniature world inside his eerie darkroom, countless whiskeys and waters, and his endless pursuit of the perfect fog.

No one knew how the story would end. We simply followed.
